Story

Our History

A Salt N Battered was founded because owners, Teresa and Mark, wanted to bring a concept to West Ashley that it just didn’t have – reasonably priced seafood that is fresh, local, delicious, and doesn’t cost you an arm and a leg. Inspired by Mark’s love for British Fare and Teresa’s passion for the hospitality industry, A Salt N Battered was born. These two business partners are accountants by trade and manage two other successful businesses, so they never had second thoughts about starting up this restaurant.

Renovations began on the building on Ashley River Road in November 2018. We completely remodeled the inside with new flooring, furniture, and a new full bar to provide a great atmosphere, and great drinks, for our patrons. Then, after two months of hard work, the A Salt N Battered signage up, and the fish n’ chips recipe finalized, we opened our doors on January 10, 2019!

Everything on our menu is developed in-house just for you and is unique to us!

The Recipe

Our fish and chips recipe is like nothing you will find anywhere else. Over the course of a week, before we opened, we had our recipe for fish and chips, mushy peas, and coleslaw developed from scratch by a professional chef. Each season and spice were carefully chosen, and our processes developed with you, our customer, in mind. There is nothing in our recipe that anyone else can replicate, and we know you will taste the difference when you try our food!

We hope you enjoy our southern twist on this classic British dish! If you’re not happy, let us know and give us a chance to make it right. We will happily remake the dish to your satisfaction.
